Why? No need to spend a lot of money on a world-wide cruise. Just plan on coming to the Peninsula Singers' spring show, "Around the World in Song." The Singers invite you to "Come Fly With Me" (their opening number), departing from Sidney, B.C. and heading on down the California coast where they'll enjoy "Surfin' USA" and then further south to Latin America. Led by Captain Glenda Korella and singing Sondheim's "Together Wherever We Go," the Singers will hop a 747 over to Korea and continue west to a Russian village called Podolga. Assuming they can navigate the airlines' tightened security measures, the Peninsula Singers then expect to touch down in Spain, France and Italy and then head south again to Greece, Israel and Africa. Eventually, they'll return to Sidney, gratefully singing "Home," the blockbuster hit by Vancouver's Michael Buble. As usual, the concerts will feature a young artist, this time University of Victoria music student Nathan Jacklin playing the cello. Aiding Glenda Korella in navigation and tour guide duties will be debonair Master of Ceremonies Jim Kingham.
